    An original message from Maria

I knew what I wanted more than anything was to make primitive crafts. In between two jobs, I started with basic patterns, set up at many craft shows, and developed my own style of primitives.

After four years of shows I wanted something new. I started making my own patterns and went to shows with lots of one-of-a-kind items.

That following of customers grew to many dozens in a short period of time. The demand grew, to where my work was spread out across the state. Orders increased and we renovated our garage into a wood shop. Next, we held an open house, and invited previous customers from a list which we had established from our shows. Many of our invitees showed up, and we grew again. My customers would call me at home looking for special orders of different colors or sizes, cabinets, cupboards and shelves.

On March 25, 2000, I opened my own retail shop in the town of Winchendon, Primitives By Maria.

You will find more one-of-a-kind wood items, for less, because we make all our own wood primitives. Our wood items are not mass-produced, so you’ll be getting something, made with special care, by us.
